Welcome to the Thomaston Savings Bank Community Impact Report!

2020 was an incredibly trying year as people everywhere worked to cope with and overcome the hardships associated with COVID-19 – and our community was not immune. Issues stemming from the pandemic could be felt in all facets of our lives, and while the Bank was working with businesses and individuals to lessen their financial burden, we knew there was more work to be done to support our nonprofit sector.

Shortly after the World Health Organization declared the worldwide pandemic, the Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation Board of Trustees unanimously supported a move to grant making which would enable the Bank to rapidly respond to the emergent needs stemming from the pandemic.  The Foundation quickly implemented the Phase One 2020 COVID-19 Response Grant Cycle, whose focus was to respond to arising critical needs in the areas of crisis intervention, food security and homelessness and housing security. 

While COVID-19 dominated so much of the conversation, our other ongoing initiatives and programs to support the community did not fall by the wayside. Our Foundation held a second grant cycle focused in the areas of arts and culture, emergency responders, health and human services, and youth services. We held our annual Act to Impact employee giving campaign, allowing our employees to determine how $31,500 of Foundation funds would be granted. The Bank continued to donate to area fuel funds, and our employees were persistent in donating their time and resources to those in need. I am continuously impressed with the efforts made by the collective Thomaston Savings Bank Team to ensure financial success and a positive philanthropic impact in our communities.

Foundation

The Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation was created over 20 years ago to identify and distribute funds to local charitable, health, public safety, arts and educations programs in the communities we serve. In addition to the Bank and all its employees, the Foundation has been a catalyst for continuous growth and prosperity by adhering strictly to our mission of giving back to our communities. 


In light of the COVID-19 health crisis and the immediate need for help, The Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation broke its Annual Grant Cycle into two phases, the first of which focused solely on supporting basic human needs arising from this pandemic and deploying resources for coronavirus response. The second phase of the grant cycle focused in the areas of arts & culture, emergency responders, health & human services, and youth services

Health & Human Services

Thomaston Savings Bank and its Foundation continued its unshakable support of organizations that actively help our citizens in need. The Bank has provided funding for several fuel banks and given grants for countless programs offered by local non-profits. We continued to provide for organizations dedicated to keeping us safe by funding programs and equipment needed by our police, fire, and ambulance services.
