Thomaston Savings Bank employees raised a total of $2,185 to support the non-profit organization For Goodness Sake, Inc. through the Bank’s Denim Days. Denim Days allow employees to wear jeans on Fridays throughout the month for a small donation to a preselected local non-profit which provides vital services to the community. If employees donate a total of $1,000 or more throughout the month, the Bank will contribute an additional $1,000 to that month’s cause.
“For Goodness Sake is a furniture bank that provides donated furniture and household goods to families located in the Central CT area. I serve as a volunteer to make clients feel welcome while they shop in the warehouse for items they need to make their house into a home. When I am not with a client I help where needed; stocking shelfs, organizing the linen room, etc. I’ve been volunteering since I was a teenager, I feel it is important to help others and to participate in your community.” – Phyllis Tucker, Branch Manager, Cash Management Specialist, Thomaston Savings Bank, For Goodness Sake Volunteer
For Goodness Sake was founded in 2013 and is run almost entirely by volunteers. They are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and they work to partner with agencies to help people in Central Connecticut who are making the transition to independent living and are in need due to certain life situations. They provide furniture and assistance to those who are in need. They have served over 1,400 families since 2013 and partner with more than 30 agencies to provide resources to their clients.
