The Watertown Art League was awarded a grant from the Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation to fund a juried art show which took place from May 6-13, 2017. Members of the Watertown Art League and local artists were eligible to submit entries to the show which was judged by two prominent local artists: Vincent Giarrano, an American oil painting artist who has been represented in numerous galleries in the U.S., France, and England; and Bob Noreika, an award winning artist, illustrator, and signature member of the American Watercolor Society.
A reception and awards ceremony was held at the Middlebury Library on May 11, 2017. The public was invited to attend to view the entries and meet the artists. Toni Sills, the Chairperson of the Watertown Art League presented awards for each category along with a Best in Show to Tina Underwood for her still life oil painting titled “Casual.”
“This annual exhibit could not take place if it were not for the generosity of the Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation, Inc., the many members of the Watertown Art League who volunteer their time and effort to help organize and bring to fruition this wonderful event, the artists whose creative works are so appreciated and the many supporters of the arts who contribute and attend this event.” – Toni Sills, Chairperson of the Watertown Art League
