Thomaston Savings Bank sponsored the 5th annual Susan B. Anthony Project Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® event. A group of male officers and executives from Thomaston Savings Bank put on red pumps for photos to promote the event and the Bank created a team, including President and CEO, Stephen Lewis, to participate in the walk. The walk was held on May 22nd in the center of Litchfield.
“We were excited to participate in this year’s Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event in Litchfield. It was a great day to raise awareness and support a wonderful organization. I am proud of our team for stepping up and stepping into their red heels!” – Stephen Lewis, President & CEO, Thomaston Savings Bank
The Bank created a trailer inspired by the opening to Saturday Night Fever, to tease the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event in hopes of raising awareness and donations. The men of the Bank’s executive team and officers strutted down the streets of Thomaston in their red pumps to the tune of “Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees. The Susan B. Anthony Project is a nonprofit organization that provides crisis and support services to those who are victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Their annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event focuses on spreading awareness and increasing community involvement. The walk, created by men, gives participants the opportunity to start a conversation and stand alongside women and children as allies, advocates and survivors. Participants are given red heels to physically represent walking in someone else’s shoes, offering a creative way to step outside of their comfort zone.
