Text displaying "2022 Fuel Grants."

The Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation awarded $30,000 in fuel assistance grants throughout the community. These grants provide financial support to those unable to afford essential utilities throughout the year, especially in the winter months. The Bank’s Foundation has increased their funding this year to assist with inflationary pressure.

“The Watertown Social Services Fuel Bank is especially appreciative this season to be a recipient of the Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation fuel grant. With the current prices of heating fuel escalating, it’ll be difficult for some folks to keep the heat on in their homes. Thank you to the Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation to see that need in our community.” – Lisa Carew, Director, Town of Watertown Human, Social & Leisure Services

Fuel banks across the state work towards providing financial relief to those struggling to afford utilities. As prices increase, the need for funding becomes greater and nonprofits look to the community for support. Watertown Social Services runs an Emergency Assistance Program that provides temporary aid to residents of Watertown-Oakville with food, fuel and safety net emergencies.
