Thomaston Savings Bank awarded 92 grants totaling in $198,977.77 during Phase II of its Foundation Grant Cycle. Grant applications were considered for nonprofit and government agencies addressing the needs in the towns of Bethlehem, Harwinton, Plymouth, Terryville, Thomaston, Torrington, Watertown, and Oakville. These funds are dedicated to responding to the direct needs of the local community.

“Thomaston Savings Bank consistently demonstrates its social responsibility through a philanthropic model second to none. They have built a culture within their organization where all of the employees empathize with the nonprofits the Bank supports and will even conduct fundraisers on our behalf. The Bank is an integral part of our existence.” – Larry Chiucarello, Director, Plymouth Community Food Pantry

The Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation was created in 1997 to distribute funds annually to a variety of local programs. Each year, the Foundation hosts a grant cycle to provide funding to organizations that are assisting the community in their respective counties. To best serve the community the Foundation hosts its grant cycle in three phases: Hartford County, Litchfield County, and New Haven County and considers applications from local nonprofit and government agencies in support of the following focus areas: arts & culture, community development, education and youth services, health and human services, and public safety.

“The New Beginnings Program has provided new school clothes for children in need. Many children miss the first few days of school because they don’t have new clothes to wear like their peers. The grant we receive from the Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation helps us to provide pants, shirts, underwear, socks and a gift certificate towards shoes for each child in need, in Thomaston and other surrounding towns.” – Pat Krin, Area Coordinator, New Beginnings, Our Savior Lutheran Church of Thomaston
