Thomaston Savings Bank was recently recognized by the Railroad Museum of New England (RMNE) for 30 years of support, helping the non-profit carry out its mission in keeping the region's rich railroad history alive and well. This is a testament to the long‑standing partnership between the Bank and the local railway in supporting the museum, its facilities, and economic growth in our community.

The partnership has a longstanding history dating back to 1996 when Thomaston Station was in need of a full roof replacement. Originally built in 1881, the building experienced distress after a fire and the Bank provided funding for the restoration of the roof, the catalyst for the start of a wonderful partnership. Since then, the Bank has provided various grants and funding to support RMNE with train restoration, expansion, and community projects. To learn more about RMNE and their offerings go to rmne.org.

“For more than 30 years, our partnership with the Railroad Museum of New England has reflected our shared commitment to preserving local history and strengthening the community. Collaborations like this play a vital role in driving economic impact and creating meaningful experiences for residents and visitors alike.” – Stephen Lewis, President & CEO, Thomaston Savings Bank
